Living Building

Burh Becc at Beacon Springs is a “Living Building,” certified by the International Living Future Institute. It is also LEED Platinum certified.

The Living Building ChallengeTM is a philosophical worldview encompassed within the frame of a certification program. Seven performance categories (Petals; see below) cover 20 Imperatives, including requirements for net positive energy and water, and strict vetting of every building material against a list of 600+ known toxins.

Living Building Challenge certification requires full compliance with every Imperative, and is based on actual, rather than anticipated, performance, measured during the first year of occupancy.

LEED Certification is a points-based certification; Burh Becc at Beacon Springs achieved the highest possible rating of Platinum.
